it is more suited for the large firms that have a lot of recourses for training and full time cad managers to do nothing but customize and tweak the program all day. It is also marketed for large A&E firms i.e. In reality its best suited for Architects and Engineers and left out the construction part. It took me a long time and some money on programming to get it were I can draw very accurate and fast.īottom line is, Autodesk calls this a program for AEC. I also do Sheet Metal, HVAC Pipe and Plumbing and this is an economical way to go for me at this time. I use it because I can draw decent shop drawings and my customers are not concerned with downloads. If you have a chance to go with something else do it. If you are stuck with this software you may what to look into a 3rd party ad on. Out of the box the quality of the fitting is very poor for shop drawings. However you are going to have a hard time drawing detailed fittings with this program. That being said, you could get with your fabrication equipment manufacture and find out how you can or if you can download maybe dfx files I know some can do this. If you are looking to set up MEP for downloads to shop equipment you have the wrong software. We have asked about this several times and they just refer you to a 3rd party add on. Autodesk is not concerned or interested in this market.
